Question 1 - Men and Abortion
As part of my Men on Abortion blog series I have conducted interviews to understand what some men have to say about abortion. This is the first question of many that will be answered.
What is your understanding of abortion and what do you know about it?
“The ending of life. I am pro-life, so I stand behind the philosophy of the prolife movement – to value ALL life. I’ve been raised to believe that all life is sacred. My religion HAS played a role in conveying this belief for me, but is not the sole purpose of supporting the movement. It has been through my own efforts and initiative to learn about the importance of being pro-life, and how it affects the world around me”
- Nikhil, 21
“Abortion is the intentional killing of an unborn child. I know that approximately 100,000 happen in Canada happen every year according to recent statistics. I consider myself pro-life. I am pro-life because I believe that all human being have human rights, whether you’re inside or outside the womb, that shouldn’t make a difference. Human rights are FUNDAMENTAL for all human beings.”
- James, 20
“I'm not well versed in all the medical terms but, abortion is the intentional extraction of a fetus from the mother's womb in order to prevent the fetus from fully developing.”
