Rating Comments: The official NDP position is pro-abortion. In June 2013, Wilson told a journalist that he supports extending taxpayer funding for sex-change surgery, a controversial elective procedure. This is not only a waste of scarce taxpayer dollars on a medically unecessary procedure, but it also represents the government cooperating with mental illness. People who think they're trapped in the wrong body need professional psychiatric help, not genital mutilation. Statistics show that people who've undergone sex-change surgery are at least, if not more likely to commit suicide than people with Gender Identity Disorder who do not take that step.
