Regional Council Granville Anderson
Durham, Regional Municipality of, ON
Electoral District: Clarington -Wards 1 and 2
Bio
CLC rating: Pro-abortion, pro-euthanasia, anti-parental rights
Rating Comments: Prior to being elected as a Durham Regional Councillor in 2022, Granville Anderson served as an Ontario Liberal MPP from 2014 to 2018. In the run-up to the 2014 provincial election, he gave perfect pro-life and pro-family answers to CLC's questionnaire, but after winning in the election, he betrayed those values and voted in the exact opposite manner. During his tenure as an MPP, in which he served as Parliamentary Assistant to the Minister of Children and Youth Services, as well as to the Minister of Education, Granville voted for every manner of evil that Kathleen Wynne could dream up in legislation or in policy, including Wynne's pro-abortion Bill 163 which criminalized pro-life expression on public sidewalks by the imposition of Bubble Zones around abortuaries.
Prior to running for MPP, Granville was a Peterborough Catholic school trustee where he served as Co-Chair of the Board.
Under his co-leadership, the Peterborough Catholic Board voted in 2010 to accept student-led, homosexual-activist clubs, as part of then Education Minister, Kathleen Wynne's "Equity & Inclusive Education" mandate. Concerned Catholics recognized this as a frontal assault on the Church's moral teachings and lobbied trustees against the anti-Catholic "Equity" mandate. However, a majority of trustees voted to approve the Equity policy without any amendments to protect the Catholic faith.
In 2014, while Granville was Co-chair of the Board, it published a "Colours of Equity" pamphlet filled with homosexualist propaganda that completely undermined Catholic moral teaching and Christian anthropology. The inappropriate pamphlet prominently displayed the gay pride flag and encouraged students to celebrate "diversity in the LGBT community". It also promoted the 2005 redefinition of marriage in a manner that gave the impression it was something of which faithful Catholics ought to be proud. This pamphlet also promoted the harmful ideology of "gender identity" which teaches children that their being male or female is not necessarily connected to their biological reality, but can change if they feel an "inner sense" of belonging to the opposite sex. Only 2 trustees were on record opposing the "Equity" mandate, but Granville was not one of them. There is no record he ever spoke out against the unconstitutional government mandate nor expressed any concerns about undermining Catholic moral teaching.

Question | Response |

Organizations like Planned Parenthood (PP) routinely counsel women to have abortions. Given that abortion is a controversial practice that many taxpayers in your city/municipality find abhorrent, do you agree that PP and its affiliates should not receive taxpayer funds through the city/municipality? | -- |
Do you acknowledge that human life begins at conception (fertilization)? | -- |
Do you consider yourself pro-life or pro-choice? | -- |
There has been a move in some municipal jurisdictions to pass bylaws which establish censorship zones, also called “bubble zones”, around abortion facilities. These unconstitutional censorship zones make it illegal to express peaceful pro-life speech, including silent prayer, on taxpayer-owned public sidewalks within the vicinity of abortion facilities and pharmacies which dispense abortion pills. If elected, would you vote to oppose such a censorship bylaw? | -- |
