Bill 24, An Act to Support Gay-Straight Alliances This atrocious bill, sponsored by the socialist NDP government's Education Minister David Eggen, makes it illegal for school teachers to inform parents of their own children's involvement in homosexualist/transsexualist "GSA" clubs, effectively turning schools into hiding places where children can lead sexual double-lives without their own parents' knowledge. The bill usurps parents' primary rights to direct the moral formation and sexual behaviour of their own children by treating parents as the enemy, inculcating distrust of parents and instigating an attitude of collusion between hired school teachers and other people's children, behind parents' backs. This anti-parent bill passed 42 - 23 upon third reading. [November 15, 2017] |

Here are quotes from Brian Jean on various life and family issues:
On what he would "do with" social conservatives if he were elected leader of the (now-defunct) Wild Rose Party: “What do we do with them? Well, at first, we can try to manage them and then we get rid of them. That’s the truth of it. Albertans need to be able to trust us. When they see our reaction it will be quick. It will be ruthless. It will make sure Albertans know they can continue to trust us and know we’re not some little gang of crazies." [Calgary Sun, 'Wildrose leadership contender Brian Jean on "nutbars" and "crazies"', March 4, 2015]
On his decision to march in the Calgary Pride Parade: "I know where I stand and that’s all I can really focus on and I want Albertans to know where I stand.” [Calgary Sun, 'United Conservative leadership hopeful Brian Jean and interim party leader Nathan Cooper sign up for Calgary Pride parade', July 27, 2017]
On the question of whether or not he is a social conservative: “No,” says Jean, in a nanosecond. “I’m a fiscal conservative and I’m more of a libertarian. It’s none of my business what people do behind closed doors in their personal life. It’s absolutely none of my business. It’s not any of their business what I do either.” Still, there is the fear the Wildrose will be painted as a refuge for political whack jobs. Remember the last week of the 2012 election when defeat was snatched from the jaws of an expected Wildrose victory. Jean is quick to comment. “There are nuts in every party. Everybody has these people in their party who others would classify as nutbars.” [Calgary Sun, 'Wildrose leadership contender Brian Jean on "nutbars" and "crazies"', March 4, 2015]
On his decision to dismiss the concerns of social conservatives in his leadership bid: "Abortion and same-sex marriage is a boat that has already sailed…I am not interested in pursuing these issues, I am interested in running Alberta for all Albertans, not some Albertans." [fortmcmurraytoday.com, 'Brian Jean dismisses social conservatism during leadership bid', March 6, 2015]
