Candidate, Rana Bokhari
Winnipeg, City Mayor, MB
Bio
CLC rating: Pro-abortion, pro-lgbt ideology
Rating Comments: Ms. Bokhari is the former Leader of Manitoba’s Liberal Party. During her tenure as Liberal Leader, her office issued a statement to CLC which suggested that all Manitoba Liberal candidates support the legalized killing of preborn children, as well as forcing taxpayers to finance those killings with public money. Furthermore, the statement implied that all Manitoba Liberal candidates would oppose any legislation that would protect the conscience rights of doctors and other health care workers, for example, in continuing to be able to refuse to participate in abortion, or give referrals for abortion. The statement also suggested that every Liberal candidate opposes the fundamental right of parents to withdraw their children from classroom lessons which contradict their religious and moral values, on the topics of marriage and homosexuality.

Organizations like Planned Parenthood (PP) routinely counsel women to have abortions. Given that abortion is a controversial practice that many taxpayers in your municipality find abhorrent, do you agree that PP and similar “sexual health agencies" should not receive taxpayer funds through the municipality? | no response |
Do you acknowledge that human life begins at conception (fertilization)? | no response |
Do you consider yourself pro-life or pro-choice? | no response |
There has been a move in some municipal jurisdictions to pass bylaws which establish censorship zones, also called “bubble zones”, around abortion facilities. These unconstitutional censorship zones make it illegal to express peaceful pro-life speech, including silent prayer, on taxpayer-owned public sidewalks within the vicinity of abortion facilities and pharmacies which dispense abortion pills. If elected, would you vote to oppose such a censorship bylaw? | no response |
