Sudbury Catholic District School Board, ON
Electoral District: Zone 1 - Sudbury Wards 1 & 2
Bio
CLC rating: Supportable
Rating Comments: Answered favourably to CLC's questionnaire 2006. In a phone interview with a CLC rep, she agreed that the board's Equity & Inclusive Education strategy contains some pitfalls that could give an open door to those who disagree with Catholic doctrine on the issue of homosexual practice. In fact, she committed to raising a motion, if elected, to embed a specific, new protection in the board's equity policy requiring Section 2357 of the Catechism to be taught whenever the issue of homosexuality is mentioned. Her motion would also explicity ban 'Gay-Straight Alliances' and any youth counsellors or groups who do not totally agree with the Magisterium of the Catholic Church.
Percentage in last election: 55.16% (2010), 54.21% (2014) ; Elected (2022)
Victory margin last election: 8.4% (2014) ; Elected (2022)
