Liberal Party, Beaches-East York, ON

Bio

Mary-Margaret McMahon
Not Supportable
CLC rating: Pro-abortion, pro-LGBT ideology
Rating Comments: The Ontario Liberal Pary is officially pro-abortion, as evidenced by an official statement posted on its website following the June 2022 ruling from the U.S. Supreme Court overturning the pro-abortion Roe v. Wade decision, whereby one of the party's commissions declared that "the people of Ontario should have safe and accessible reproductive health, including abortions."

The Ontario Liberal Party is also an official supporter of LGBT ideology, as evidenced by multiple statements and declarations by the leader and on its website. For instance, in June 2024, Liberal leader Bonnie Crombie released a statement honoring and celebrating the "contributions" of so-called 2SLGBTQIA+ Ontarians. She emphasized the importance of recognizing the history of Pride as a protest movement. Crombie stated, "Love is love, not just during Pride but every day of the year." These statements reflect the Ontario Liberal Party's ongoing support for LGBT ideology.

Motion 36 - To expand OHIP coverage to include universal access to all prescription contraception.
This motion would have expanded the scope of the Ontario Health Insurance Plan (OHIP) to cover the cost of all prescription contraceptives, including oral hormone pills, copper IUDs, implants and the abortifacient drug called Plan B. This motion was defeated on Nov. 30, 2023, by a vote of 61-23. The voting broke down along party lines with the Ontario PCs opposing this free, taxpayer-funded contraception plan, while the support for the scheme came from NDP and Liberal MPPs.

Question Response
Do you acknowledge that human life begins at conception (fertilization)? --
Are there any circumstances under which you believe a woman should have access to abortion? If yes, please explain.

*A surgical or medical intervention, designed to prevent the death of the mother (e.g. In the case of tubal pregnancy or cervical cancer) but which results in the unintended and undesired death of the pre-born child, is not an abortion.
Yes, all circumstances (based on party policy)
Would you support measures to delist medically unnecessary, elective abortions from the list of insured services covered by OHIP? No (based on party policy)
Do you agree women have the right to be thoroughly informed about the serious health consequences of abortion, the development of the child in the womb and the alternatives to abortion? --
Would you vote in favor of repealing the Ontario "bubble zone" censorship law? This unconstitutional law criminalizes peaceful pro-life expression, including silent prayer, on taxpayer-owned public sidewalks within 50 metres (or more) of any abortion facility. --
Will you protect parental rights in education by working to ensure that traditionally principled parents are given advance notice of, and the ability to withdraw their children from, classroom lessons and presentations dealing with abortion, contraception, homosexuality, and transgenderism? No (based on party's commitment to LGBT ideology)
Would you support efforts to repeal the age-inappropriate, graphic, sex-ed curriculum which is currently being taught throughout Ontario schools? No (based on party's commitment to LGBT ideology)
If elected, will you vote to reject laws that would expand euthanasia and assisted-suicide and instead, promote palliative care, the purpose of which is to alleviate pain, and enhance the quality of life until natural death for terminally ill patients, and for those with disabilities?

*Euthanasia is the direct and intentional killing of a person by action or omission, with or without the consent of that person, for what people mistakenly believe are compassionate reasons.
--
Will you support legislation to protect the right of health care workers who refuse to participate in procedures which are in violation of their religious or conscientious beliefs? --
