Pro-lifers target 20,000 Ontario homes with one clear message “Defund Abortion”

TORONTO, Jan. 16, 2012 – On Saturday January 14th, Campaign Life Coalition Youth (CLCY), a branch of Campaign Life Coalition, pamphleted 20,000 homes in 24 electoral ridings across Ontario informing the public that Ontario taxpayers fund at least $30-50 million every year for the killing of children in the womb.

“A recent poll found that 91 per cent of respondents had no idea that the province spends at least $30 million on abortion on demand and it’s about time someone told them” said Alissa Golob, Youth Coordinator for Campaign Life Coalition. “It’s time to defund elective abortion and stop forcing Ontario taxpayers to pay for a procedure that hurts women and kills a human being. This pamphleting initiative is just the beginning of a growing movement that says ‘enough is enough’,” added Golob.

More than 150 volunteers, young and old, pamphleted their respective ridings encouraging their neighbours to tell their member of provincial parliament to delist abortion from OHIP. The pamphlet calls upon the Ontario Government to invest in the health care issues that matter to Ontario families; the hiring of doctors, nurses, purchasing medical technology, treating more children with autism and investing in palliative care, rather than in the killing of babies in the womb.

Campaign Life Coalition Youth has also been gathering signatures for a defund abortion petition that is to be presented to the Ontario Legislature in the near future. More than 13,000 signatures have been collected thus far. CLCY is urging people to contact their MPP and tell them that abortion is a financial drain on our health care system and should be delisted from OHIP.
