CPC Leadership Candidates Pierre Lemieux and Brad Trost scheduled to speak at the National March for Life

Ottawa, May 10, 2017 – On May 11, 2017, thousands of Canadians will rally on Parliament Hill and march through the nation’s capital for the 20th National March for Life. After 20 years of bringing to light what many in government have refused to see, pro-life Canadians are determined more than ever to continue standing up for the 100,000 pre-born children who are killed every year by abortion. They will be joined by Conservative Party of Canada leadership candidates Brad Trost and Pierre Lemieux who are scheduled to address the crowd.

“Among all other parliamentarians, pro-life, cultural and spiritual leaders who will be speaking on the Hill, I am very happy to also welcome both Brad Trost and Pierre Lemieux to speak at this year’s rally,” said Jim Hughes, national president of Campaign Life Coalition. “Although both have participated at this event in the past, we have never had a candidate attend during a party leadership race, let alone two. This is a very encouraging sign for the pro-life movement in Canada. Who knows, one of them could be our next prime minister.”

“Over the years, the March for Life has grown to become the largest annual pro-life demonstration in Canada and we hope to continue growing our numbers,” said Jeff Gunnarson, Vice-President for Campaign Life Coalition. “The March for Life is the moment many pro-life Canadians start to engage politically, whether in their ridings, at nomination meetings or even running for office. This has long been a flash point for many in the movement.”

On Thursday, May 11, the pro-life rally on Parliament Hill begins at 12:30 noon. The March through downtown Ottawa starts at 1:30 pm. Other March for Life related events include a Candlelight vigil on May 10 at 9pm, a Rose Dinner and Youth Banquet on May 11 following the march, and a full day Youth Conference on Friday May 12.
