Campaign Life Coalition endorses Trost and Lemieux for CPC leadership, disqualifies O’Leary and others

Toronto, April 24, 2017 –Campaign Life Coalition (CLC) is today releasing its report card and voters’ guide for its supporters to help them choose a leader for the CPC when it holds its leadership convention on May 27th, 2017. CLC urges party members to vote for Brad Trost and Pierre Lemieux as the top 2 choices. All other candidates are disqualified from consideration. Before the membership deadline, CLC alone was able to bring in at least seven thousand new members into the party.

CLC’s successful membership drive together with the exemplary Trost and Lemieux campaigns have affected some of the other candidates who, although socially liberal themselves, have begun to openly court social conservative voters with pro-life/pro-family campaign promises of their own. This is a positive development.

“Over the past few months, Brad and Pierre have done a remarkable job of carrying the pro-life and pro-family banner in this leadership race, promoting pro-life values and the need for these voices inside the Conservative Party of Canada,” said Jim Hughes, National President of Campaign Life Coalition. “More importantly, they are the only candidates who have publicly highlighted the injustice of abortion in Canada and have vowed to take concrete actions to address the killing of 100,000 children in the womb every year, and for that we thank them.”

“Pro-lifers across the country have come to trust CLC not to play politics with the lives of the unborn,” said Jeff Gunnarson, vice-president of Campaign Life Coalition. “CLC supporters and pro-lifers at large, have one of the highest engagement rates and voter-turnouts, and candidates shouldn’t underestimate them and their commitment to pro-life and pro-family values.”
