Campaign Life Coalition congratulates Patrick Brown on PC leadership victory
Toronto, May 9, 2015 – Campaign Life Coalition (CLC) is pleased to congratulate Patrick Brown on being elected leader of the Ontario Progressive Conservative Party. Thousands of CLC supporters signed up to vote in the PC leadership race. The pro-life and pro-family vote is a significant block in Patrick Brown's winning coalition and will continue to be active within the party.
"The media claims social conservatives infiltrated the PC Party and took control," said Jim Hughes, National President of Campaign Life Coalition. "In fact, these people are regular folks who oppose the anti-life and anti-family agenda at Queen's Park under Kathleen Wynne, especially her radical and inappropriate sex-ed curriculum. Our supporters exercised their democratic right, like tens of thousands of other Ontarians, to vote for a party leader that would respectfully listen to their concerns."
"We are happy with Patrick Brown's election," said Mary Ellen Douglas, Ontario President for Campaign Life Coalition. "But the hard work of influencing politics and policy has just begun. We will continue to work with pro-life and pro-family candidates and voters regardless of party to ensure these issues are raised effectively and find space in the public square."
CLC thanks its supporters for getting involved in the democratic process and looks forward to an open, revitalized Progressive Conservative Party that will reflect the views of Ontarians.
Note: CLC spokesperson Jeff Gunnarson will be available for media requests at the PC Convention (Toronto Congress Centre, 650 Dixon Rd). See contact info below.
