Ex-convict Linda Gibbons brings abortion issue to Trinity-Spadina by-election
Toronto, June 26, 2014 – Anti-abortion activist and prisoner of conscience, Linda (Groce) Gibbons, is the only candidate in the upcoming by-election in Trinity-Spadina who opposes the killing of human beings in the womb, and if elected, will stand up in the House of Commons for their legal protection. Gibbons is running as a candidate for the Christian Heritage Party.
“Linda Gibbons has sacrificed her freedom for most of her adult life for the most vulnerable in our society, the pre-born child,” said Jim Hughes, President of Campaign Life Coalition. “Her peaceful civil disobedience over the years has saved lives, changed hearts and has re-awakened the consciences of Canadians across the country on the injustice of abortion.”
Gibbons, who last year received the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee Medal for her outstanding dedication in furthering a just cause, has spent more than ten years in prison over the past two decades for peacefully counselling abortion-bound mothers outside abortion facilities, offering them support in choosing life for their pre-born children. Her case went to the Supreme Court of Canada in 2012 where a ruling was made to send the case back to the civil courts.
In addition to supporting Linda’s candidacy in Trinity-Spadina, Ontario, Campaign Life Coalition also endorses fellow CHP candidate David Reimer who is running in MacLeod, Alberta.
