And a little child shall show them…

Toronto, Feb 12, 2014 – On Sunday, February 9, 2014, a little boy was born by caesarian section in Victoria B.C. He weighed only 2 lbs.13 oz. His story is remarkable because his mother had been declared “brain dead” on December 28, 2013 due to a cerebral hemorrhage. Robyn Benson was kept alive by life support to give her son Iver a few more weeks in her womb, increasing his survival rate. The story of Robyn and husband Dylan Benson and their son so moved people that they responded by donating more than $158,000, mostly in small donations by 3,500 strangers.

“The example of these parents to save their son’s life is an inspiration to all,” said Jim Hughes, National President of Campaign Life Coalition. “The response of people to the plight of the father and son is an honest and beautiful human reaction to help save the baby’s life in the womb and provide in some small way for their future without a wife and mother. I feel sure that Iver’s mother is loving him from her new home.”

“Last week I saw an ultrasound photo of Iver in his mother’s womb, growing every day as his birthday came closer. He was unaware of his mother’s condition, he only knew that he was safe and loved.” said Mary Ellen Douglas, National Organizer of Campaign Life Coalition. “The window into the womb, through the development of ultrasound technology, shows the world that a human being exists from the time of conception and deserves our protection. We cannot in honesty keep turning our backs on the truth.”

Campaign Life Coalition works to obtain a law to protect all human beings from the time of conception. We pray for the Benson family and all pregnant mothers and their families.
