Abortion pill application sparks theme for 2014 National March for Life: RU-486, or RU-4LIFE?
Toronto, Jan. 13, 2014 –Campaign Life Coalition has ramped up its anti-RU-486 campaign after receiving confirmation from Health Canada that an application for the deadly abortion drug is indeed in its possession and under review, contrary to what was said earlier by Deputy Minister George Da Pont. The pro-life group has selected a theme for its upcoming National March for Life in Ottawa, aimed at keeping RU-486 out of Canada indefinitely.
“On May 8, Prime Minister Harper will have to respond to the tens of thousands of Canadians who not only oppose the lawlessness on abortion in this country, but who also don’t want this human pesticide that kills babies and their mothers to be available in Canada,” said Jim Hughes, President of Campaign Life Coalition. “RU-486 is a lethal drug that has been shown to produce severe bleeding in 10% of the women who take it. The fact that Health Canada has not yet rejected the application is appalling.”
RU-486 kills a developing human being in the womb at 5-9 weeks gestation. It has a long history of serious side-effects including death, for women who take it. A Canadian woman died during clinical trials of RU-486 back in 2001. Over a dozen American women died as a result of this drug as reported by the FDA in 2011.
“Those who attend the National March for Life desire a law that protects all human beings from the time of conception (fertilization) to natural death,” said Mary Ellen Douglas, National Organizer for Campaign Life Coalition. “Whether the abortion is surgical or chemical, the end result is the same, a dead human being. A federal election approaches and pro-life voters will be intently watching how the Harper government handles this file.”
Campaign Life Coalition has launched a petition to Health Minister Rona Ambrose and is urging supporters to contact MPs about this issue. The National March for Life is planned for May 8, 2014.
