Newfoundlanders and Labradorians to rally against taxpayer funding of abortions

St. John’s, Sept. 27, 2013 - On Saturday September 28, 2013, taxpayers will gather at the Confederation Building in St. John’s to rally against the government’s policy on forcing taxpayers to subsidize elective abortions in the province. Newfoundland and Labrador taxpayers pay at least $1 million annually to fund elective abortions, a medically unnecessary procedure, while many genuine health care needs do not get coverage, or are grossly underfunded to the point of negligence. The rally will kick-off an unprecedented, multi-province Defund Abortion campaign that will also include rallies in Nova Scotia, Manitoba, Alberta and Ontario in October, followed by Quebec, Saskatchewan and British Columbia next spring. "MHAs will learn that there is a real opportunity cost of diverting 1 million in tax dollars towards elective abortion", said Margie Hynes, President of Campaign Life Coalition Newfoundland. "For that money we could hire 5 family doctors, or 14 nurses in communities facing a dire shortage, or we could provide crucial therapy to 13 autistic children each year. That would be real healthcare, not politically-motivated spending." Campaign Life Coalition Newfoundland plans to go door to door leafleting throughout the province in the upcoming months.

When: Saturday September 28, 2013 from 2:30pm – 3:30pm

Where: Confederation Building, St. John’s

Who: Campaign Life Coalition Newfoundland will be joining concerned taxpayers from across the province
