Despite lack of political debate, gendercide remains an issue
Toronto, April 17, 2013 - Campaign Life Coalition is very disappointed that the political pressure exerted on Mark Warawa (MP, Langley) was so great that he felt that there was no option but to stop pressing forward on M408, a common-sense motion that would have condemned the practice of sex-selective abortion.
“We thank Mark Warawa for raising the issue of lethal discrimination against women and girls through sex-selective abortion in Canada,” said Mary Ellen Douglas, National Organizer for Campaign Life Coalition. “It is a shame that this motion was killed.”
Gendercide remains a reality in Canada and Campaign Life Coalition remains committed to the eradication of sex-selective abortion as it is to abolish all abortion for any reasons. To continue raising awareness about the issue, the theme of the National March for Life on May 9th is “End Female Gendercide: ‘It’s a girl’ should not be a death sentence.”
