Message to the federal government: ‘Don’t let Quebec get away with murder’
Toronto, ON, January 17, 2013 - Campaign Life Coalition, a national pro-life organization which opposes euthanasia is calling upon the federal Justice Minister to use whatever legal or punitive measures are necessary to prevent the Quebec separatists from violating the Criminal Code of Canada by legalizing euthanasia.
"The PQ government does not appear to respect human life or the law. Legalizing euthanasia would transform the doctor into a killer. How long would it take before medical ethics tilt to a point where efforts to save the lives of suffering people give way to their expedient elimination?" said Jim Hughes, National President of Campaign Life Coalition. "Prime Minister Harper and Justice Minister Nicholson cannot let the Quebec politicians get away with murder."
"The Quebec government is heavily dependent on federal transfer payments," said Mary Ellen Douglas, National Organizer of CLC. "The federal government should promise to withhold payments to the province unless they abandon their illegal ambitions."
Campaign Life Coalition will ask its supporters to contact Justice Minister Rob Nicholson to request immediate federal action. CLC is also directing concerned citizens to a slippery slope video it produced which provides evidence that the promised ‘safeguards’ have not worked in other countries and as a result, the most vulnerable in society are suffering abuse.
