TO: Trustees of the Waterloo Catholic District School Board

Whereas we have learned of a serious financial conflict of interest involving Trustee Kathy Doherty-Masters in which she was involved in decisions which resulted in funnelling WCDSB contracts and payments to her own husband;

And whereas she had an ethical and legal obligation to recuse herself from any board decisions that could have resulted in providing a financial benefit to her immediate family members;

And whereas it is unbecoming for a religious school board to have sitting on its board a trustee who has been alleged of financial wrongdoing;

And whereas it has also been discovered that she is one of the trustees who recently voted in favour of diverting an enormous amount of money from the WCDSB’s “reserve fund”, meant for emergencies, in order to purchase $300,000 worth of LGBT propaganda books to fill up school libraries, so that our children can be indoctrinated with even more anti-Catholic, sexual ideology;

We therefore demand that Kathy Doherty-Masters resign immediately from her position as a Trustee with the WCDSB and urge the rest of the board to call on her to step down.

I believe anyone put in a position of trust, by the people, should have the utmost integrity and, clearly, this is not the case.

I am on a board of an organization. As a board we practice governance on behalf of those who have entrusted us with executive powers .Not using executive power as aggrandizement for oneself.This is clearly a violation of fiduciary responsibility. She should resign and refund the money that went to her husband

For the apparent reasons of Conflict of Interest, and lack of knowledge of basic Catholic doctrine.

Conflict of interest must be treated seriously in any position of trust. Reserve funds should not be used for purchases that must be covered by regular operating funds. LGBT books are not required on an emergency basis and should be treated as any other regular library/text book purchase decision.
