Newfoundland Abortuary

TO: Hon. Andrew Furey, Premier of Newfoundland and Labrador
CC: Hon. Tom Osbourne, Minister of Health for Newfoundland and Labrador

I am calling on the House of Assembly to end the taxpayer bail-out for the Athena Health Centre, a private, for-profit abortion business in St. John’s, Newfoundland.

Sincerely,
[ The Undersigned ]

The Athena Health Centre abortuary, which commits 90% of the preborn killings in the province, saw a significant down-turn in business over the last two years. The clinic’s owner and profiteer, Ms. Rolanda Ryan, blamed a decrease in “unplanned sexual activity” during the COVID-19 pandemic for the lower demand for abortions.

Before the pandemic, the Athena Health Centre boasted of committing 900 elective abortions a year, which breaks down to 2 to 3 dead babies per day.

While Newfoundlanders can celebrate the drop in killing in 2020 and 2021, Ms. Ryan has complained about the hit to her bottom line, which has caused her preborn butcher shop to fall into debt.

After appealing to the provincial government of Andrew Furey for relief, a new funding formula was announced on April 1st. Instead of being paid “per head” for each abortion committed, Ms. Ryan will now be paid a quarterly “lump sum” regardless of how many babies are killed.

This April Fool’s Day gift from the liberal government, which makes Newfoundland taxpayers the real fools, will serve to prop up a failing and morally repugnant business for ever. No matter how incompetently Ms. Ryan runs her abortuary, or how low the demand for abortion drops, taxpayers will continue to line her pockets.

It is hard to understand why this failed for-profit abortion business should receive special treatment from the Furey government while thousands of other ordinary businesses are also struggling or have faced closure due to the pandemic. It would seem that there is a political agenda at play.

The Athena Health Centre abortion business should not receive any more special treatment or funding from the provincial government. The bail-out needs to end now, and Ms. Ryan needs to stop getting a free ride on the taxpayer dime.

This shows that your government is more concerned with killing unborn children than with the good health of your constituents. Shame on you.

This business should not be receiving any money especially when hospitals and medical staff are struggling to provide basic health care.
