UPDATE: On the evening of May 21st, CLC learned that the Party's Leadership Election Organizing Committee (LEOC) disqualified Karahalios a second time. It is our belief that the liberal-progressive elites in the CPC establishment did not want to take a chance on a grassroots, social conservative, who is outspoken, potentially winning the election. So they simply removed him from the ballot based on a trumped up, fake complaint of "Islamophobia", initatiated by his competitor, Erin O'Toole. Therefore, CPC members will not be permitted to vote for Karahalios.
Below are the key criteria considered by CLC in rating Jim Karahalios with an "A-" score for the Conservative Party Leadership race.
CRITERIA | ASSESSMENT | Score |
---|---|---|
Abortion |
Opposes all abortions. Believes in the sanctity of human life from conception to natural death, no exceptions. |
|
Euthanasia |
Opposes euthanasia. Will repeal Bill C-7 (euthanasia expansion), if Trudeau makes it law. |
|
Conscience rights |
Would introduce legislation to protect health care workers from being compelled to participate in, or refer, for euthanasia or abortion. |
|
Willing to re-open abortion debate? |
YES, and will allow private members bills on abortion and abortion-related issues. |
|
Free Votes / Party Democracy |
Will not interfere with the democratic right of Conservative MPs to bring forward private members business on issues of conscience like euthanasia and abortion. Karahalios has been Canada's leading champion of party democracy and rooting out corruption and rigging of nomination elections, party executive elections and grassroots policy votes. He played a pivotal role in exposing the ballot-box stuffing that was taking place in the Ontario PC Party, under the Patrick Brown regime. He also led a "Free Your Policy" campaign in the federal Conservative Party's 2016 National Policy Convention in Vancouver, when the establishment swamp in the party was scuttling popular, grassroots policies that offended liberal sensibilities, including socially and fiscally conservative policies. |
|
Enact government legislation, regulations or actions to protect unborn children? |
YES, including the following: 1. End Canandian taxpayer funding for international abortions. 2. Ensure only conservative judges who adhere to strict legal interpretations of legislation passed by Parliament are appointed to the Supreme Court of Canada who adhere to strict legal interpretation of legislation passed by parliament. Indirectly, this would help the pro-life cause because, in theory, conservative judges who don't possess liberal bias would recognize that the Charter and Constitution contain no such thing as a "right to abortion" nor a "right to euthanasia". |
