Campaign Life Coalition applauds Justice Minister for appealing BC Supreme Court ruling
Toronto, ON, July 13, 2012 - Campaign Life Coalition is pleased with today’s response by the Attorney General of Canada to the BC Supreme Court Decision on assisted suicide. Justice Minister Hon Rob Nicholson announced today that “the Government of Canada will appeal the decision to the British Columbia Court of Appeal, and will seek a stay of all aspects of the lower court decision.”
“We applaud Minister Rob Nicholson for upholding Canada’s law which protects vulnerable people from assisted suicide and euthanasia,” said Jim Hughes, National President of Campaign Life Coalition (CLC). “Across the nation, elderly and disabled citizens will breathe a sigh of relief. After all, they are the primary targets of the suicide lobby.” added Hughes.
“Justice Smith had legislated from the bench, so we’re glad to see the government assert its parliamentary superiority over this activist-judge“ said Mary Ellen Douglas, National Organizer for CLC.
Campaign Life Coalition is asking supporters to write to the Attorney General of Canada and thank him for appealing this radical judicial decree.
