CLC in the news: Sex-selective abortion
Campaign Life Coalition's Alissa Golob appeared on Sun News' Byline program to discuss a second report which revealed that some Canadian immigrant communities are in fact practicing sex-selective abortions.
The normal ratio of male to female births in Canada is consistently 105 to 100. However, this study found dramatically higher rates amongst some ethnic communities, for example, for mothers from India with two children, the ratio of male to female births widened to 136 to 100. The first report by the Canadian Medical Association Journal unleashed a firestorm of criticism for this horrible abortion practice being found to occur in Canada. Astonishingly however, "pro-choice" advocates maintained that targeting girls for termination before birth is an acceptable expression of the so-called "woman's right to choose".
