New Brunswick Premier drops 2-doctor rule, medical necessity
At a press conference this morning, Brian Gallant, the pro-abortion Liberal Premier of New Brunswick announced regulatory changes that will officially allow abortion-on-demand in the province. The current 2-doctor rule which requires approval by two doctors that an abortion be "medically necessary" before it is funded by taxpayers, will be dropped. This will essentially bring abortion-on-demand, for any reason, or no reason at all, to the province of New Brunswick.
It also means that all abortions will be funded with taxpayer money, including those done for reasons of convenience, as a back-up birth control method. According to Gallant, the changes will take effect Jan. 1, 2015. This change was made without a vote in the legislature. The government simply changed the existing regulation which it has the legal authority to do.
CLC issued a press release today to condemn Gallant's actions.
