BC Votes 2013: CLC's list of pro-life or supportable candidates
Update with election results: May 17, 2013 On May 14, 2013 BC voters went to the polls. A minority Liberal government was re-elected. Campaign Life Coalition conducted a get-out-the vote campaign in support of 8 candidates in 7 different ridings. The candidates we rated as “supportable” had either filled out our questionnaire or were qualified by a CLC leader. Unfortunately, candidates in 78 ridings either did not reply to our questionnaire or were not reached. We then sent out email and voice blasts asking supporters to help get out the vote for the supportable candidates, and posted all candidate info available onto our online election database. We’re pleased to report that the 3 candidates were elected: Abbotsford-Mission: Simon Gibson (Liberal); Cariboo-Chilcotin: Donna Barnett (Liberal) ; Langley: Mary Polak (Liberal).
We’re grateful to the other pro-life candidates who did not succeed, and we hope they’ll continue to seek political office: Paul Redekopp (Abbotsford West), Mike McLoughlin (Kelowna-Mission), John Cummins (Langley), Michael Marckwick (West Van-Capilano), Brian Guillou (Westside-Kelowna).
Original article, published: May 14, 2013 IT'S VOTING DAY IN BRITISH COLUMBIA!Campaign Life Coalition has attempted to contact as many candidates as possible to determine their position on life and family issues. From the results of our inquiries thus far, we have found 7 candidates running for election who can be rated by CLC as PRO-LIFE. Additionally, we have identified one other who cannot be rated totally "pro-life" so we have indicated her as a "preferred candidate" in that particular electoral district. List of BC ridings with supportable candidates:
All NDP candidates were rated pro-abortion since that is the official party position. |
