Motion to defund so-called Diversity, Equity and Inclusion (DEI) initiatives at the city of Red Deer. This excellent motion, put forward by Councillor Kraymer Barnstable, and seconded by Councillor Chad Krahn, directed the City of Red Deer's administrative staff to create a report on the substantial cost savings that would be realized in the City's 2025 budget by defunding the plethora of Marxist and wasteful DEI programs funded by the municipal government. The motion was defeated on September 3, 2024 by the narrowest of margins (5 opposed, 4 in favour), with pro-LGBT ideology Mayor Ken Johnston casting the deciding vote against the motion. |

Here are the answers for the questionnaire as provided by Chad Krahn on 2024.03.26.
Question | Response |
---|---|
Do you acknowledge that human life begins at conception (fertilization)? | Yes |
Do you consider yourself pro-life or pro-choice? | Pro-life |
There has been a move in some municipal jurisdictions to pass bylaws which establish censorship zones, also called “bubble zones”, around abortion facilities. These unconstitutional censorship zones make it illegal to express peaceful pro-life speech, including silent prayer, on taxpayer-owned public sidewalks within the vicinity of abortion facilities and pharmacies which dispense abortion pills. If elected, would you vote to oppose such a censorship bylaw? | Yes |
Organizations like Planned Parenthood (PP) routinely counsel women to have abortions, and increasingly, are involved in dispensing the chemical abortion pill. Given that abortion is a controversial practice that many taxpayers in your municipality find abhorrent, do you agree that PP and similar “sexual health agencies" should not receive taxpayer funds through the municipality? | Yes |
