RED ALERT! Fight over flags continues at DPCDSB
It’s not over yet.
We celebrated another miracle on Matheson Boulevard Tuesday night—when the board voted 10-1 against the flying of Pride flags—but this was just a meeting of the By-Law/Policies Review Committee.
The motion that did pass—to fly the DPCDSB flag, in addition to the Canadian and Ontario flags—needs to get approved on Tuesday, January 28 at the regular board meeting.
Unfortunately, we can’t count on this vote being a mere formality.
More woke activists are slated to delegate.
The Dufferin-Peel Units of the Ontario English Catholic Teachers’ Association (OECTA) are once again asking their members to show up to the board meeting and to contact the trustees:
It seems like the LGBTQ lobby may still have a few tricks up its sleeve, so I need to appeal to you:
Can you please try to delegate too? (Technically, the submission deadline has passed, but exceptions might be permitted.) You just need to fill out this form ASAP and send it to [email protected]. I will be delegating myself.
Can you please show up at the board meeting on Tuesday, January 28 at 7 pm at the DPCDSB Catholic Education Centre (40 Matheson Blvd W, Mississauga)?
If you were at this week’s meeting, I know it may be a slog to head over to the centre again. It would be such a tragedy, however, if we come so close to shutting down OECTA’s pro-Pride crusade, but fail in the final hour because we don’t follow through.
Please contact your trustee, as well, to thank him or her for voting against this latest attempt to promote Pride.
Trustee Brea Corbet, for the record, is the one trustee who put forward the Pride flag motion. Please pray for her conversion of heart.

It may feel like we aren’t gaining any ground, but constantly going back and forth. What’s the point?
I really want to underscore the sea change in the DPCDSB over the past few years.
In 2021, the DPCDSB first voted in favour of flying the Gay Pride flag outside its Catholic Education Centre, and a couple of other buildings.
In 2023, LGBTQ activists appealed for every school to fly the Pride flag, even if it required the erection of more flagpoles.
We delegated to ask the board to take down the Pride flag. My delegation, on the flag’s history and creator, prompted the board to change their Procedural By-Law on Delegations & Submissions in order to censor delegates if anything in their speech is deemed discriminatory on the basis of “sexual orientation,” “gender identity,” “gender expression,” or a number of other grounds.
Again, it didn’t feel like we were making any progress, but rather, going backward.
Last year, though, the flag policy was quietly amended. When trustees realized that the changes would prevent the raising of the Pride flag, they voted 9-2 in a committee meeting to re-allow the flying of the Pride flag.
We showed up in full-force at the special board meeting a week later, and managed to flip a 9-2 vote in favour of the Pride flag to a 6-3 vote against flying any “additional flags,” including the Pride flag. (Two trustees were absent.)
Now, several months later, the board voted 10-1 against flying Pride flags. With two trustees already on-side, that means eight trustees in total have changed their minds! Only by the grace of God could this be possible.
Direction from the Archdiocese of Toronto was undoubtedly crucial. The engagement of parents and other ratepayers in the DPCDSB was indispensable too, and an example to pro-family Christians across the country. Mainstream media—CTV, 680 News, The Toronto Star—are reporting on what’s been happening. Other boards are taking notice.
That's why I'm asking you to do it again. Please rally all your community members. Ask your pastor to join you!
Let's bring it home—for the students and for the glory of Our Lord.
See you on Tuesday.
