We’ve come to a critical juncture in the battle to defend life in Nova Scotia.

Recently, provincial NDP leader Claudia Chender made an alarming promise to target the province’s four pro-life pregnancy care centres that work tirelessly to help vulnerable women and save lives by providing second chances to preborn babies at risk of abortion.

On Nov. 13, Mrs. Chender reaffirmed the NDP's pro-abortion commitments, one of which included regulating what she called “anti-choice centers.”

Jack, as you know, Nova Scotia’s pro-life pregnancy centres are truly the backbone of what it means to be a compassionate community, offering women who are struggling the help and hope that they so desperately need.

Mrs. Chender’s commitment to “regulate” these fantastic centres is nothing more than a backhanded attack, as if they were doing something wrong in offering women alternative choices to killing their preborn children, such as parenting or adoption.

This rhetoric not only undermines the vital work of these centres, but also threatens the well-being of the countless women and children for whom these volunteer-run charities exist to serve.

Crisis pregnancy centres offer not only adoption info and compassionate counselling, but also free baby formula, diapers, onesies and shelter for vulnerable women.

We cannot let this NDP threat go unchallenged!

It’s time to stand together and call on Premier Tim Houston to take a strong stand and publicly condemn this harmful and regressive proposal.

Premier Houston, while not being pro-life, nevertheless has the platform and responsibility to safeguard the values of compassion and care that every Nova Scotian holds dear.

By urging him to speak out, we can demonstrate that Nova Scotia will not tolerate attacks on charities that embody humanity's duty to protect and care for vulnerable women in need.

Next, call or email your local mayor, whose job includes building nurturing, life-giving communities, and encourage him or her to also speak out against the NDP threat.
