The 'Unfaithful Five' - Cast them out
Trustees with the Niagara Catholic District School Board (NCDSB) have rejected the Teachings of the Catholic Church on human sexuality.
They did so by fully embracing the pro-LGBTQ “Pride” flag, turning their backs on every single Catholic family in the region, and it all happened at a chaotic meeting on Tuesday night where the police were called in.
The trustees were voting on a motion to ban that evil flag from being raised outside the NCDSB’s schools and office buildings.
The proposal was brought forward by Trustee Natalia Benoit, who represents St. Catharines and Niagara-on-the-Lake.
It was a great motion, which simply states the following:
“That the Niagara Catholic District School Board amend its Flag Flying Protocol to specify that the Pride Flag shall not be flown on school properties or district offices.”
It should be plain to see how this aligns perfectly with centuries of Church Teaching, but we live in “interesting” times, as they say, where sin abounds and clarity is often obscured by pride.
There was no confusion, though, for the parents who were at the meeting.
Media reports say about 100 people were there, and some were visibly upset at the possibility that the board would reject Natalia’s motion.
A number of videos have been shared on social media about the meeting, and one of them shows a man standing in the crowd shouting “Pride is a sin!”
He was followed by another man who burst in, pointing at all of the unfaithful board members and yelling “Shame on you!” at each of them.
It didn’t take long for security to escort him out of the room, but that did little to cool the outrage among the other parents.
One emotionally-charged woman told the trustees flat out: “What you’re supporting is evil!” She also accused them of not being Catholic, and that’s about the time when the Chair of the Board, Danny Di Lorenzo, ordered security to clear out the gallery.
The entire meeting was put on hold at that point, and you can watch what happened by going here. The initial disruptions start around the 13-minute mark and they pick up again a couple of minutes after that.
I did find one bright spot from the evening.
There’s a clip on X of the crowd peacefully singing Ave Maria as they were being escorted out of the building, which I loved to see.
I need to take comfort in prayer when it comes to moments like this, because what happened next was even more disappointing.
When the trustees reconvened, Natalia presented her motion and spoke about why it was important.
The rationale, she said, was rooted in a desire to adhere to the Church Teaching that we’re all made in the image and likeness of God.
She also referenced the Catechism of the Catholic Church that “upholds traditional teachings on marriage and sexuality,” and she noted that Sacred Scripture presents homosexual acts as “acts of grave depravity.”
Her entire presentation was beautiful, and if you want to watch her full speech, go here and fast-forward to the 16:30 mark.
Several of her colleagues, meanwhile, spoke about the need to embrace the LGBT “Pride” flag, including Jim Marino (the NCDSB trustee for Niagara Falls), who, rather bizarrely, also said he was “pro-life” and believes in the “traditional definition of marriage between a man and a woman.”
Eventually, Natalia’s motion was voted on and defeated 5-2.
Here’s the record on how everyone voted:
IN FAVOUR
- Natalia Benoit
- Joe Bruzzese
OPPOSED
- Larry Huibers
- Jim Marino
- Paul Turner
- Rhianon Burkholder
- Danny Di Lorenzo
This result is shameful.
What’s worse is that our Catholic schools will continue indoctrinating our communities, and brainwashing our children, by flying the LGBT “Pride” flag throughout the entire region of Niagara.
So, what do we do now?
We need to start mobilizing to defeat this group of unfaithful trustees in the next municipal election, which is slated for October of 2026.
That’s still a couple of years away, I know, but we need to start getting our ducks in a row right now.
So, if you think you’d make a good trustee to replace one of the Unfaithful Five, but you have some questions about how to move forward, send us an email and we can talk it over.
If you don’t think you want to sit on the board, then maybe you know someone who’d be perfect for the job. If that’s the case, please let us know and we can reach out to that individual.
Finally, please pray for all the trustees at the NCDSB, and for all the concerned parents who showed up to the meeting.
Pray for all the students in the board, as well, because they’re the ones who’ll be facing that LGBT propaganda symbol when they go to school in June.
We all need to rely on the Holy Spirit for guidance on this matter, and each one of us can always use more prayers.
