It has been two years since the Trudeau Liberals passed Bill C-4, their infamous “conversion therapy ban”.

This bill claims that the Bible’s teaching on sexuality and gender is nothing more than a “myth” or “stereotype”. To proclaim that teaching in a church service, Bible study, counselling session, Christian school classroom, or in a Christian home is now the very definition of “conversion therapy”.

It is illegal under Canadian law.

Faithful Christian leaders and laypeople are all now at risk of jail-time for calling out the sins of homosexuality and transgenderism. According to Liberty Coalition Canada: “This bill’s wording is sufficiently broad to allow for the criminal prosecution of Christians who would speak biblical truth into the lives of those in bondage to sexual sins like homosexuality and transgenderism... [E]ven a mother or father who offers their children freedom from sexual sin through repentance and faith in the gospel of Jesus Christ (1 Cor. 6:9-11) could be threatened with five years in jail.”

It is a travesty that such an inversion of right and wrong, truth and error, good and evil has been written into our nation’s Criminal Code. As the Bible warns us in the book of Isaiah: “Woe to those who call evil good, and good evil; who put darkness for light, and light for darkness; who put bitter for sweet, and sweet for bitter!” (Isaiah 5:20).

However, we should not be surprised by this twisting of truth as the time draws nigh for our Lord’s return. The Apostle Paul reminds us: “Now the Spirit expressly says that in latter times some will depart from the faith, giving heed to deceiving spirits and doctrines of demons, speaking lies in hypocrisy, having their own conscience seared with a hot iron…” (1 Timothy 4:1,2).

There is a lot of demonic deception going on in our country these days. There are many deceivers out there; and many people are being deceived.

But we are very thankful that, so far, we know of no pastors, counsellors, therapists, teachers, or parents having been charged under Bill C-4. No one – so far – has been thrown in jail.

Why is that?

I believe that God has blessed the faithful witness of thousands of churches, ministries, Christian leaders, and ordinary Christian parents and citizens who have been very vocal and outspoken over these last two years.

The powers-that-be realize the political fall-out will be catastrophic if a Christian is actually charged with conversion therapy. They dare not arrest us. Not yet.

And so long as we keep speaking out and standing firm, God will continue to defend us, and the opposition will continue to tremble.

That is why it is so vital that pastors, priests, and all church leaders take the opportunity to publicly proclaim the Bible’s teaching on sexuality and gender without compromise.

To that end, to help churches maintain a faithful, consistent witness to biblical truth in the face of political opposition, “Biblical Sexuality Sunday” was established two years ago, after Bill C-4 came into effect.

The next Biblical Sexuality Sunday falls on Sunday, January 14, 2024.

If you are a pastor or priest, we humbly ask you to consider preparing a sermon or reading a short statement on biblical sexuality for January 14th. Will you take a stand for God’s Word?

If you are a leader in another religious community – Jewish, Muslim, Sikh, or otherwise, would you consider standing in solidarity on this issue with the Christian community? Would you consider speaking out for traditional sexual morality on or near January 14th?

If you are a layperson, we would ask you to bring this matter to the attention of your local clergy and ask them if they will participate in Biblical Sexuality Sunday.

And no matter who you are, we encourage you to make others around you aware of Bill C-4 and its attack on biblical Christianity, parental rights, freedom of religion, and freedom of expression in Canada. The lies and harms in this “conversion therapy ban” need to be exposed, and that will only happen if we tell our friends and family about it. The mainstream media is not going to do it, so it is up to us!
