Pass Bill C-314 and Don’t Kill the Mentally Ill
We have one last chance to stop the next scheduled expansion of Trudeau’s euthanasia (MAiD) protocol.
Bill C-314 (the “Mental Health Protection Act”) comes up for a vote in Parliament this week, and we need to demand our MPs vote YEA to prevent mentally ill Canadians from being murdered.
Conservative MP Ed Fast launched Bill C-314 to reverse one portion of Bill C-7, a law the Trudeau government passed in 2021. The Trudeau law allows those who request suicide to be lethally injected on the grounds of any psychiatric or psychological condition, starting March 17, 2024. That is only five months away.

Bill C-314 ensures this provision is scrapped, protecting mentally troubled Canadians, and directing our mental health professionals to continue to prevent suicide instead of providing suicide.
If Bill C-314 does not pass this week, our friends, neighbours, and family members who struggle with depression, anxiety, panic, PTSD, or other troubling thoughts and behaviours will be “eligible” for a pseudo “right to die”. There will be nothing anyone can do to stop them from visiting a death doctor and receiving their so-called “right”.
Over 40 experts have recently penned a letter to MPs denouncing the Trudeau government’s Euthanasia Committee and its ideological push for radical euthanasia expansion. In this letter, these experts write: “The Committee’s recommendations place Canadians who would recover from mental illness at risk of avoidable premature death, and if enacted will be responsible for facilitating state provided deaths to marginalized and suicidal Canadians who would have recovered… The Committee is condoning a form of eugenics through expanding MAID [i.e. euthanasia] in Canada.”
Imagine that – legalized eugenics in Canada. It seems like we are hurtling down the same “slippery slope” as Nazi Germany did in the 1930s.
One of the doctors behind this letter is Dr. Sonu Gaind, Chief of Psychiatry at Sunnybrook Health Sciences Centre, former president of the Canadian Psychiatric Society, and professor at the University of Toronto. Despite being one of Canada’s top leading experts on mental illness, his concerns and objections have been dismissed by the Trudeau government.

Dr. Gaind objects to the word games the Trudeau government is playing, suggesting that mentally ill Canadians with a “transient” suicidal impulse will be safeguarded while only those who face “irremediable” mental suffering will “qualify” for assisted suicide. He insists there is no real, scientific way to distinguish different types of suicidal ideation: “No one can actually know that in any individual.” Rather, he believes that all mentally ill Canadians should be helped to live.
Dr. Gaind also grimly notes: “We now provide MAiD to more people in absolute numbers than any other country on the planet.” And this is before we open the door to killing mental patients next March!
Our healthcare system is truly becoming a deathcare system.
Please don’t close this email before sending an Action Alert Email to your local Member of Parliament insisting they support Bill C-314 (the “Mental Health Protection Act”). Urge them to protect vulnerable Canadians who struggle with thoughts of suicide and feelings of low self-worth. Tell them we need to help struggling souls live, and not help them die!
