On the evening of Tuesday September 26th, parents and Catholic electors at the Dufferin-Peel Catholic District School Board (DPCDSB) in Ontario may very well lose their legal right to speak freely at public school board meetings against flying the LGBT Pride flag, against Gender Ideology, sexual orientation curriculum, and the like.

What’s going on, you ask?

There is an effort underway to restrict how parents at Catholic school board meetings can express concerns about the LGBT ideology to which their children might be exposed.

On June 20th, Trustee Brea Corbet asked staff to come back to the board with a revised bylaw that would require parents and delegates to "adhere to Policy 9.01 Catholic Code of Conduct and any other related policies when delegating".

She made this request to staff immediately after listening to a delegation presentation by a faithful Catholic elector (from Corbet’s very own ward) who had politely requested that Trustees stop flying the LGBT Pride flag at the board’s schools. (That delegate was our very own Director of Education & Advocacy, Josie Luetke).

Of course, once you read Policy 9.01 “Catholic Code of Conduct”, you understand why Trustee Corbet wants delegates to adhere to it as a condition of being allowed to speak.

It’s full of misleading terms like “gender identity” and “gender expression”, and gives deference to the Ontario Human Rights Code which enshrines these false categories as “protected grounds”.

Essentially, Corbet wants to prevent criticism of LGBT ideology in schools by labelling it “hate speech”.

We believe that trustees might vote on adopting a revised censorship by-law Tuesday night, September 26th.

ACTION #1: Sign Our NO CENSORSHIP Petition

We have just a few days between now and September 26th to pressure the other trustees to vote against the proposed delegate censorship by-law.

Even if you live in a different part of the country, trustees need to see that all Canadians are watching, and don’t agree with censorship of faithful Catholic voices.

We will deliver the signatures to the trustees before next week’s Board meeting.

ACTION #2: Phone & Email Every Trustee

Multiply your influence by also emailing and phoning all the trustees to respectfully request that they reject any censorship provisions that would ban parents from criticizing ideologies and school instructions that they believe are contrary to Catholic moral teaching.
