Parliament Must Revoke Trudeau’s Emergencies Powers
Now that Prime Minister Justin Trudeau has invoked the Emergencies Act, he has granted himself dictator-like powers over ordinary Canadian citizens like you and me.

The freedom truckers in Ottawa and those who support them in protesting the Trudeau government's mandates and policies could face fines, arrest, and the freezing of their bank accounts. No court order needed. No due process required. If you are on the government’s “black list” and in the wrong place at the wrong time, you are automatically presumed guilty and subject to this police state action.
And if Trudeau can use these powers against peaceful, non-violent pro-freedom opponents today, why not against pro-life and pro-family opponents tomorrow?
This is nothing less than the suspension of our fundamental civil liberties for the sake of partisan political expediency. It is the timeless tool of tin-pot dictators and petty tyrants down through the ages!

I am sadly reminded of the Reichstag Fire Decree of February 28th, 1933, which was used to suspend constitutional rights in pre-war Germany and to abolish all political opposition to the Nazi party, following an act of arson at the German Parliament. That one singular incident was all the excuse Adolf Hitler needed to stamp out freedom of expression and assembly, and opposition to his rule. The overreaching Reichstag Fire Decree gave Hitler the ability to intimidate and arrest his political opponents, which paved the way for him to secure absolute power over the German people, leading eventually to the Holocaust.

When Mr. Trudeau invoked the Emergencies Act on February 14th, he chose to follow a similar path, except without a single excuse: There has not been even one incident of violence perpetrated by the “Freedom Convoy” protesters. These protesters are average, working-class Canadians peaceably gathered on the public streets and sidewalks of Ottawa – and in many other towns and cities – to call for an end to coercive vaccine mandates and harmful lockdowns.
Yes, some may have committed parking and noise bylaw infractions, but they are not criminals or terrorists!

Even according to the left-leaning Canadian Civil Liberties Association, Trudeau’s use of the Emergencies Act is completely unwarranted. They stated in a press release on Tuesday: “The federal government has not met the threshold necessary to invoke the Emergencies Act. This law creates a high and clear standard for good reason: the Act allows government to bypass ordinary democratic processes. This standard has not been met.”
Conservative MP Ms. Candice Bergen, interim leader of Her Majesty’s Official Opposition, deplored Trudeau’s use of the Act as “a massive sledgehammer”.
Bloc Québécois MP and party leader, Mr. Yves-François Blanchet, criticized Trudeau’s use of the Act, saying, “It is not legitimate, and it is useless.”

In order for Mr. Trudeau to continue to enforce the Emergencies Act, he is obliged to bring a motion before the House of Commons and Senate, which is scheduled for debate today. It is imperative that we reach out to our Members of Parliament and Senators to urge them to reject that motion and restore our full constitutional rights and freedoms.
For the moment, Mr. Trudeau gets to play dictator. He gets to rule over Canada like it’s a police state. Let’s make sure our elected representatives and Senators know that Canadians do not want to live in a one-party dictatorship, under Justin Trudeau's cult of personality. Let’s make it clear that we do not support the removal of our civil liberties or legal rights.
