Bill C-230 Protects Medical Freedom of Conscience
There is a hopeful pro-life proposal being considered in the House of Commons – and I need your help to get it passed!
Mrs. Kelly Block, a pro-life Member of Parliament from Saskatchewan, has re-introduced her private member’s bill defending conscience rights for medical professionals. February 4th marked the first reading of Bill C-230, “An Act to amend the Criminal Code (intimidation of health care professionals)”. We expect it to come up for second reading and debate any day now.
This medical freedom bill allows doctors, nurses, pharmacists, and other health care workers to say NO to euthanizing their patients. They will be free to reject medical murder without fear of losing their jobs or being punished by health system bureaucrats.
Euthanasia has been legal in Canada since 2016 through the Trudeau government’s MAiD service (short for “Medical Assistance in Dying”). This sweet-sounding euphemism disguises a horrific practice whereby a despairing patient can choose to be murdered by his or her medical caregivers. Beneath this legal abomination lies a satanic philosophy that views diseased or disabled Canadians as being “life unworthy of life”, but which disguises itself as “mercy” killing.
Since euthanasia is not only legal, but it has been decreed an essential health care service, medical professionals are being ordered to provide it – or, at the very least, provide referrals for it. This has placed many doctors, nurses, pharmacists, and other medical staff in conflict with their employers and governing bodies.
Conscientious health care workers consider euthanasia to be the very antithesis of good medicine. Whether it be for religious, moral, ethical, or common-sense reasons, they believe it is never in the best interests of their patients to be murdered!
This is in accord with the universal policy of the World Medical Association, which was adopted in 2019: “No physician should be forced to participate in euthanasia or assisted suicide, nor should any physician be obliged to make referral decisions to this end.”
According to the Hippocratic Oath, which is the timeless standard of medical ethics, doctors pledge: “I will neither give a deadly drug to anybody who asked for it, nor will I make a suggestion to this effect.”
And the commandment of Sacred Scripture is unambiguous: “Thou shalt not kill.”
This is why we need to urge our elected parliamentarians to pass the medical freedom bill, C-230.
Bill C-230 is especially vital in light of the Trudeau government’s recent expansion of euthanasia, which now designates disabled and depressed Canadians (who are otherwise healthy) as being eligible candidates for killing.
Our principled, ethical, faithful, life-affirming doctors and nurses are perhaps our final line of defence against the spreading death cult in this country!
Bill C-230 would rightly make it illegal to coerce medical professionals into administering a lethal injection or deadly drug. It would also make it illegal to intimidate them into referring their patients to another professional who has no qualms about killing. As well, hospitals, clinics, and other health system employers would be forbidden from discriminating against conscientious objectors in their hiring practices.
Bill C-230 allows our best pro-life doctors and nurses to practice their healing craft without fear of discrimination or reprisals for not toeing the Trudeau government’s deadly ideological line.
This simple, common-sense bill upholds the constitutional values near and dear to the hearts of Canadians, championing freedom of conscience and freedom of religion for our medical professionals.
Bill C-230 also provides another benefit: It protects the health care choices of ordinary citizens by allowing us the option to find a doctor, nurse, pharmacist, or other health care worker who refuses to kill! Wouldn’t you like the freedom to choose an ethical medical professional? Isn’t that worth fighting for?
Without Bill C-230, we expect our Canadian health care system to degenerate even further into a cold, cruel, and cost-driven enterprise wherein patients’ lives are expendable and the best medical professionals and upcoming medical students are pushed out.
Is that what we really want? We know it has already started. Doctors have already quit over pressure to euthanize.
We also anticipate the monetization of euthanasia by combining it with organ harvesting, a lucrative billion-dollar industry. We’ve already seen the use of euthanasia for fresh human organ procurement in New Brunswick. Euthanasia as a profit centre will bring even more pressure to bear upon health care workers to participate in a procedure that violates their conscience.
Please join me in signing our online petition in support of MP Kelly Block’s Bill C-230. This petition will be used to reach out to Members of Parliament. We want to show them the level of popular Canada-wide support that exists for our conscientious doctors, nurses, and other health care workers.
The more signatures we get from all across this country, the stronger our message will be, and the more likely we are to see this hopeful pro-life bill enshrined into law.
Yours for Life, Family, and Freedom,
