Candidate, Bill Fraser
Liberal Party, Miramichi, NB
Bio
CLC rating: Unknown
Rating Comments: Has not answered CLC's election questionnaire. However, it is unlikely this person would ever vote in favour of pro-life legislation due to the fact New Brunswick's Liberal Party Leader, Brian Gallant, announced during the 2014 campaign trail that all Liberal MLAs must vote pro-abortion, even if it means violating their consciences and/or religious beliefs. Under this anti-democratic edict, it stands to reason that no Liberal MLA will dare go against the Party's pro-abortion policy for fear of being thrown out of caucus. All Liberal MLAs will presumably be whipped to vote in favour of killing pre-born children and forcing taxpayers to fund it. The Liberal Party leader has been clear that if elected Premier, his government would support funnelling public tax dollars towards abortions committed at Morgentaler's private, for-profit, killing centre, and to other private abortion businesses that may pop up in future at the prospect of being able to feed at the public trough. The Liberal leader has also stated quite clearly that his government will repeal the existing rule that requires a sign off by two-doctors, certifying that the abortion is 'medically necessary' before it can qualify for funding by taxpayers.

Position on diverting taxpayer $$ towards paying for abortions at Morgentaler's private "clinic" In 2014, the Liberal Party Leader in NB came out against the long-standing ban on public funding for private abortion facilities. For decades, all 3 major parties have agreed that the province shall not fund abortions at private abortion 'clinics'. Only abortions committed at hospitals are publicly funded. After an organized campaign to fund the Morgentaler abortuary, the Liberal Leader came out strongly in favour of fully-funded, abortion-on-demand. |

Position on cancelling the provincial requirement that 2 doctors sign off on the abortion as 'medically necessary' before it gets funded by taxpayers. This is the current, decades old policy of the New Brunswick government. It was agreed upon by all major parties until 2014 when the Liberal Leader suggested this modicum of restriction needs to be removed, in the name of 'a woman's right to choose'. |

Do you acknowledge that human life begins at conception (fertilization)? | no response |
Are there any circumstances under which you believe a woman should have access to abortion? (note: a surgical or medical intervention, designed to prevent the death of the mother but but which results in the unintended and undesired death of the pre-born child, is not an abortion. e.g. in cases of tubal pregnancy or cervical cancer) | no response |
Will you uphold the current law of not funding abortion in private facilities? | no response, but party policy opposes the current law |
Will you support measures to stop funding abortions with taxpayers money in all New Brunswick hospitals? | no response, but party policy favours funding abortion-on-demand |
Do you agree women have the right to be thoroughly informed about the serious health consequences of abortion, the development of the child in the womb and the alternatives to abortion? | no response |
Will you protect the rights of parents to educate their children according to their faith in matters of moral principles and beliefs concerning abortion, contraception and homosexuality? | no response |
Will you oppose euthanasia and instead support measures to promote 'palliative care', the purpose of which is to alleviate pain, and enhance the quality of life for terminally ill patients and those with disabilities? (Note: Euthanasia is the direct and intentional killing of a person by action or omission, with or without that person's consent, for what people mistakenly believe are compassionate reasons.) | no response |
Will you support legislation to protect the right of health care workers who refuse to participate in procedures which are in violation of their religious or conscientious beliefs? | no response |
